PSA - long post ahead ☺ 2 years ago I put myself out there and trialled for the NZ women's over 35s Touch team to go to the Touch World Cup in Malaysia in April 2019. I have never trained so hard in my life. Or atleast so I thought at the time. The excitement I felt when I was selected was soon wiped away when I injured my knee at the very first training camp 😭 Initially we thought I'd be back after 3 weeks. My knee had other ideas. An MRI showed I had compression fractures and a ruptured ACL. This normally means surgery and no sport for 9-12months. I had 4. 😱 "Am I 100% out?" I asked the Specialist. "Welllllll, you can't run until the beginning of March and only then will we know how stable your knee is without having surgery" Suffice to say THERE WE A LOT OF TEARS 😭😭😭 The next few months were FULL ON. I would exercycle and rehab my knee daily, row or swim for fitness 3-4 days a week and work on ball skills. Some days it took around 3 hours. I would have done 10 a if I had too 😊 I was so determined to give myself every opportunity to compete at the World Cup. Come March, I started running. Gradually increasing my distance, working on change of direction and speed AND my knee.was.stable!!! A part of me was amazed and a part of me knew it was my mindset and all the work I had put in. That experience, although testing at the time, taught me a lot about myself and that if you do the work and have the support of others - you can achieve almost anything you want!$

The days aren't to be endured, or "gotten through", they're to be made the most of!

Sure we have commitments, we have work, we have family, but that shouldn't stop us from, amongst it all, stopping and enjoying the moments along the way.
